Multi award winners Randy Brecker and Bill Evans first joined forces in 2003 to form a new group they billed as THE SOULBOP BAND, a mixture of soul, bop and contemporary Jazz.
After a highly successful European tour in the Summer of 2003 (23 concerts in 29 days!), Randy and Bill toured Europe again in the summers of 2004 and 2005, fronting and all-star band featuring Hiram Bullock. This proved to be an even more succesful concept, and led them to record “live” in the US. The result, a double CD, was published in 2005.
The band toured Europe again in the Summer of 2006, and was invited to the Jarasum Festival in Korea the same year. Plans are made for the band to tour Europe again in the Spring of 2007.
The band has featured, on the different tours, the talents of guitarist Hiram Bullock, plus Dave Kikoski or Jim Beard on keyboards, Victor Bailey on bass and drummers Rodney Holmes and Steve Smith.
