Organics is Alvin Queen’s first contribution as a leader, and reflects the experience gained by Queen after many years of co-operating with some of the greatest Jazz musicians, in particular with the creators of the “Hammond Organ Sound” invented in the fifties by Wild Bill Davis, developed in the sixties by Lonnie Smith, Groove Holmes, Johnny Smith and Shirley Scott, and blatantly copied in the nineties by the so-called “creators of acid jazz”.

To form Organics, Alvin has followed the trend created by the great Art Blakey, and has looked for the wonderful young talents of organists Mike LeDonne or Rob Bargad, trumpetist Terell Stafford, saxophonist Jesse Davis, and guitarist Peter Bernstein. The results blend the creativity of these young musicians with the experience of the leader.

The group’s first CD, “I ain’t looking at you”, has been released by Enja Records in late 2006.
